Much like the Mint Julep this bourbon mix relies heavily on the mint and bitters infusion, but it’s a little simpler and quicker. Often referred to as the ‘layman’s julep’ this offers a light early evening mixture that, when made correctly, balances sweet flavours and strong booze.
- Add 5-6 mint leaves, 3 lemon wedges and sugar syrup to a mixing tin, then muddle gently.
- Add 1 dash Angostura bitters, 1 dash Regan’s Orange Bitters, 2 ounces of bourbon and ice.
- Shake very briefly and lightly.
- Strain the mixture in to bourbon glass filled with ice and garnish with one mint sprig.
