Bacchanalia

The Bacchanalia should be horrendous. It’s similar to Sangria, but contains rye and Lambrusco. This should be horrendous. But it’s not. The recipe is not simple, so it’s not advised to have a couple of practice mixes, before unleashing it on guests.

Fill a shaker with crushed ice and add the following per person

    1 jigger of rye
    1/2 jigger of lemon juice
3/4 jigger spiced sangria syrup (see below)
3 dashes sweet bitters (preferably peach)

Shake vigorously and strain over ice in to an Old Fashioned glass.
Top with 1 1/2 jigger Lambrusco
Garnish with lemon slice and grated nutmeg

Spiced Sangria Syrup
Create the syrup out of equal parts red wine and sugar. Then add pineapple skins, orange and lemon peel, ginger, clove, star anise, vanilla, black pepper, cardamom, star anise, cinnamon and nutmeg. Strain the solids and store in fridge.
