Watching Henry Cavill in Guy Ritchie’s ‘The Man from U.N.C.L.E’ it’s hard to disagree that they’ve made this year’s most stylish film.
Guy Ritchie has always been a polarising filmmaker, often treading an uncomfortable line between lad culture and carefully considered ideas. However his sense of style has never been in question. With each film Ritchie perfectly captures visual elements from the culture he is dealing with. In The Man from U.N.C.L.E the glamorous side of the 1960s comes to life vividly. The level of detail in the production is impressive. The suits, sunglasses, luggage and locations all look fantastic.
You might not enjoy the sly witticisms or frenetic actions scenes, but this film is recommended as a study in style. Think of it as Mad Men meets Mission Impossible.
