A striking new brand of eyewear is gaining global recognition. However this design sensation is not coming from an Italian fashion house. Instead it’s born out of the imagination of Mr Robert Roope, a vintage eyewear collector from London.
Over a 50 year career as an optician Mr Roope, built a reputedly ‘huge’ collection of vintage glasses. Then in 2006 he took took inspiration from his son (Nicolas Roope, designer of the Plumen lightbulb) and started designing his own collection.
Now these striking glasses have become favourites of international stars such as Lady Gaga. They are stocked in a growing range of department stores, including London’s Selfridges.
