5 rooftop pools worth finding

  1. Shoreditch House, London
Right in the heart of London’s ‘hipster’ zone, sitting above the grimy Redchurch Street and Shoreditch High Street is the members’ club/hotel/spa. On the roof is one of London’s only rooftop pools. To enjoy the pool (and poolside bar) you’ll have to either be staying in one of the guest rooms or be a member, but it’s worth it when the sun is going down over the city.
  2. Grand Central Hotel, Barcelona
On the outer edges of Barcelona’s ‘gothic quarter’ is a the sublime Grand Central Hotel. This beautifully designed, marble filled venue has dedicated it’s penthouse to a wonderfully relaxed bar and pool. Complete with relaxing music, poolside service and complimentary towels. The pool may be small, but with its infinity edge, it stands out as one of the world’s best.
  3. Clarion Hotel Post, Gothenburg
Sweden may not immediately spring to mind when thinking of places to swim outside, but the Clarion Hotel boasts a beautiful rooftop pool worth experiencing. This particular example is best enjoyed at night with the warm lighting and comfortable decking areas surrounding your dip.
  4. Thermae Bath Spa
Unlike the others on this list, this doesn’t sit on top of a hotel. The New Royal Bath is a day spa with a rooftop top, which is full of “mineral rich waters”. It’s open day and night and the pool looks out over the beautiful city of Bath.
  5. The Standard, Los Angeles
This rooftop pool only makes the list due to its iconic status. There is very little about this hotel (or indeed LA) that can be described as refined or elegant, however to its credit the heated pool overlooking downtown LA is something special. It’s almost impossible not to feel like a Hollywood star in this place.
